Thank You!

I'm not sure if anyone will read this but I will start off by saying that I hope everyone is having a great summer! I wanted to tell all of you guys how truly grateful I am for your support with my moms situation. I kind of sprung this whole thing on you guys very suddenly and you were all there, willing to help.

Mr. Piatek went above and beyond to make sure that we started on this video project. He went out of his way to do research, make appointments with the doctor and he set up the Kidney For Jennifer blog. So I want to say thank you for that Mr. P! Thank you guys for being so enthusiastic about this project and writing questions and things for the video. You guys are really doing something wonderful for my mom and we both really appreciate it!

So again I just want to say thank you on behalf of my mom and myself and I look forward to working more and this project in September! Have a great rest of your summer!

Volunteer at the Red River Ex

Patricia and I went to Red River Ex to volunteer to let people become aware of organ donations. We volunteered for 2 and a half hours. First, we took pictures of jewelery and other things that are shaped like organ that would be donated. (mostly hearts)After, Patricia, Karlie, Reedhee and I made puppets out of paper bags. Mine had lungs, Patricia's had a heart and Karlie's had a kidney. When we finished with the puppets we then handed out some pamphlets to people. After we ate. And the last thing we did was, sit in the stands for people to pass by and see what our stand was. We ended up talking to another volunteer that was there and he told us many stories about organ donations and people who have helped out.

Ideas for Kidney Awareness?

I suggest that we create a general slide show, showing facts, sharing stories and maybe attach a quick interview of Karlies mom (Jennifer Lafferiere). Then we go around to the T.A's in groups presenting them as a starting point. Then later we can go more in depth with the awareness and create a video, spending more time on it.

Who am I?

I'm 19 years old, studying to be a dermatologist in Simon Fraser University. It was a beautiful, Friday night in Surrey, B.C. I was just leaving University, to go home to my family. As I was walking outside to my car, I heard a another car speeding, closer and closer towards me. Then several gun shots were shot right at me...

Who Am I ?



: On September 28th, 2011, A university student named Maple Batalia was shot to death. This was a shock to many people, because Maple was such a graceful actoress, model, student and daughter. Maple's parents also put out a bursary for other teenage girls trying to fulfil their dream of being a dermatologist. This was a big issue because the killers weren't yet found.
